Job Objectives:
The QA/QC Lead will support the delivery of Quality and materials Inspection activities as part of a broader asset integrity management programme for major oil and gas operating assets.
The role will be responsible for undertaking Quality assessments, supporting Quality studies, developing technical deliverables and providing engineering expertise to multidisciplinary teams involved in the operation and maintenance of oil and gas facilities.
The successful candidate will work as part of Wood's Iraq team and contribute to the ongoing Quality reliability and performance of critical production assets.
Nationality Requirement: This position is open to Iraqi nationals only.
Core Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise and lead QC inspectors and NDT personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Define individual responsibilities, provide effective training and mentorship, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Schedule and assign work for efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
- Monitoring of all Quality control and surveillance activities for several construction contracts, including planning and implementation by Contractors Quality control plans and Inspection Test Plans.
- Supervise and control the Contractor’s to carry out the Quality Control & Surveillance works during prefabrication and under construction to check that the work is in conformity with COMPANY specifications and procedures
- Prepare / Develop Quality Control Procedures as required such as NDT, Inspection, Coating as required in line with TEEPRH
- Coordinate with TPI agencies, Suppliers, other affiliates and discipline for inspection and surveillance monitoring of the Project.
- To supervise and control the Critical activities, such as welding, non-destructive examinations, and performance testing. (Including increased inspection levels when performance requirements are not met)
- To check all the process of the field joint, coating traceability, welding, NDT, hydrotest, SAT till the RFC and FRSU.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), initiating root cause analysis and driving corrective action implementation.
- Report and Update all Quality issues on site together with a regular and brief description of all non-conformances issued and all related correction, corrective, and preventive actions
- Maintain Quality documentation and records for each area of activity, and system index for all discipline works and each file and records.
- Ensure inspection equipment used in the project are calibrated, and certified by independent, recognized, & accredited testing laboratory as per their manufacturer recommendations
- Ensure the receipt, control, and transmission of all Contractors' documents
- Monitor and trend quality key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
- Review and audit the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure internal and external compliance.
- Assist with complaint resolution and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Participate actively in daily production meetings, providing QC and NDT updates.
- Coordinate equipment calibration and verification, maintaining accurate records.
- Produce detailed reports, presentations, and assignments regularly to a high standard.
- Foster open communication with team members, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to think independently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical commissioning procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Adobe Acrobat.

Expected:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- AMPP/NACE Senior Corrosion Technologist or equivalent preferred.
- API 571 certification preferred.
- API 580 certification adventageous.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Responsible for overseeing all Quality Control and Quality Assurance activities related to project construction packages and modification works.
- Ensures all works are executed safely and in compliance with HSE requirements.
- Monitors project execution to achieve cost-effective delivery.
- Ensures construction and modification works meet required quality standards and project specifications.
- Verifies that all activities are completed within approved schedules and deadlines.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
- Provides surveillance and inspection support across all construction packages to maintain quality and operational integrity.
