About this role

Wood is seeking a Commercial Estimator to join its Consulting business unit, supporting operations across the Middle East, Africa and Caspian (MEAC) region.

This role can be based at any Wood office in the UK or the UAE with a hybrid working arrangement.

The Role

As a Commercial Estimator, you will be responsible to provide strategic commercial leadership to maximise business and project performance while effectively managing contractual, financial, and commercial risks across the project lifecycle. Drive the commercialisation of service offerings to support business growth, enhance profitability, and align with organisational objectives and market strategies.

The role also ensure compliance with corporate commercial governance, contracting policies, and risk management frameworks while safeguarding the organisation's commercial interests. Leading the resolution of complex claims, disputes, and cash collection matters, promoting favourable outcomes, protecting revenue streams, and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership and promote a strong safety culture
  • Act with the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professional conduct
  • Champion the application of the Financial Management Framework and ensure adherence to relevant Delegation of Authority (DoA), commercial, and contracting policies
  • Provide commercial support to proposal teams through tender pricing reviews, evaluation of commercial submissions, preparation of pricing models, and development of associated qualifications
  • Prepare and maintain regional and business rate cards, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives and market conditions
  • Develop cost estimates for bespoke pricing requirements and non-standard client opportunities
  • Coordinate and conduct regular reviews and updates of rate card cost elements to ensure pricing remains accurate, competitive, and commercially robust
  • Support internal governance and approval processes by ensuring pricing proposals meet business requirements and compliance standards

Expected:

  • Proven years of experience in a commercial, estimating, cost engineering, or related business role
  • Sound understanding of corporate governance standards, commercial practices, and project execution procedures
  • Proven expertise in cost estimation, pricing analysis, budgeting, and financial modelling, with a strong focus on accuracy and commercial viability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret data and support informed business decisions
  • Proficient in commercial reporting, cost control, and pricing methodologies, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy

Preferred:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Business Studies, along with appropriate professional qualification
