THE POSITION

The ALERT Specialist Co-op will be a member of Trade Operations within Investment Operations. Trade Operations is responsible for supporting the firm’s domestic and international post-execution trade activities. The primary responsibility of the ALERT Specialist co-op is ensuring our client’s global and domestic delivery instructions are accurately maintained on the ALERT platform. The student will coordinate the workflow between Wellington Management Company, Omgeo, our DTCC service provider, and a multitude of custodians. The co-op is tasked with coordinating global market onboarding with broker-dealers and WMC Client Transitions and Client Operations teams. The student may also be asked to work on other ad hoc tasks and projects for the group.

The student will gain valuable expertise in international trading and settlement practices associated with today’s global financial markets. The undergraduate will develop communication skills through interaction with brokers, custodian bank representatives and other individuals located in offices throughout the world. The individual will also gain proficiencies in industry applications such as ALERT, CTM, and Bloomberg. The competencies acquired while working in Trade Operations are highly desirable in a competitive job market.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain relationship with ALERT service provider

• Work with internal teams and custodians to ensure accurate settlement instruction population on ALERT

• Help with the weekly review of physical mail

• Ad hoc project work

• Be available to train the incoming co-op at the end of your co-op cycle

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proficient in all MS Office applications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging, fast-paced environment
