Job Summary

The Landfill Operations Supervisor is hands-on operations leader positioned to oversee at a unique landfill operation that manages both Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Hazardous Waste (Haz Waste) streams, supervise field personnel, and ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This role leads a team of operators, technicians, and lead personnel while coordinating workflow, maintenance activities, safety initiatives, and project execution.

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in landfill, construction, heavy civil, earthmoving, excavation, or similar field operations environments. Success in this role requires strong people leadership, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly operational environment. Knowledge of GPS, surveying, CAD, or project-based construction environments is a plus.

This is an on-site position offering significant growth potential for individuals looking to advance into larger operational leadership roles within WM. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 

  • Supervises landfill staff and reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates workflow and assignments toward the achievement of operational goals.
  • Supervises and monitors daily landfill operations, and reviews and controls implementation of safety regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Collects weekly and/or monthly readings. Creates and submits records and reports.
  • Oversees personnel needs of the landfill including coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance. Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.

  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • 4 years of previous experience (in addition to education requirement)

Field: This job operates in both inside garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.

This role is designated as safety sensitive and will require the successful candidate to strictly comply with all safety rules and protocols. As part of the ongoing employment requirements, the successful candidate may be subject to drug and alcohol testing—including pre‑employment screening, post‑incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing—in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
 

PAY: The expected base pay range for this office/on-site position is $80,000 - $90,000 . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
