Baker Engineering, LLC’s (Baker) core business centers around the design and development of high-tech, high-performance technologies for a variety of applications, from custom military and commercial engines, to engine components, to the production of parts and mechanical assemblies for other industries. Baker is a division of Waséyabek Development Company, LLC that is wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, a Federally recognized Indian Tribe.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, and validation of electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and vehicle-related electrical components. This role supports electrical design work through prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation efforts.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Design and integrate automotive and heavy vehicle wiring systems, harnesses, and electrical components.
  • Develop and maintain wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and electrical documentation.
  • Conduct engineering analysis related to electrical systems and vehicle connectivity.
  • Support prototype vehicle builds and electrical system testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues related to wiring, components, embedded controls, and system interactions.
  • Contribute to process improvements, tool development, and design standards related to electrical engineering.
  • Write proposals, reports, and technical summaries.
  • Other duties as requested by management.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field.
  • Experience in automotive electrical systems, embedded controls, wiring design and integration.
  • Critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Must be able to support the Baker culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with team members.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal record search.
  • US Citizen / ITAR compliant.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Experience with high‑voltage vehicle electrical systems.
  • Working understanding of vehicle networking (CAN, Ethernet).
  • Experience with electrical system testing, instrumentation, or prototype vehicle development.
  • Experience creating wire harness drawings.
  • Working knowledge of embedded software programming languages and development practices
  • Hands-on experience with the fabrication, installation, and integration of electrical and electromechanical components
