Lead Engineer – Field Service – Projects Job Summary
Lead and manage field service project execution activities from project kick-off through installation, commissioning, customer handover, and warranty support. Responsible for ensuring project delivery within scope, schedule, quality, and safety requirements while coordinating customers, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. Based on the internal project engineering job descriptions found in your organisation.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Management
- Lead project execution from planning to completion.
- Manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and drive timely closure of issues.
- Prepare project status reports and conduct review meetings.
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Lead installation and commissioning activities at site.
- Review site readiness, method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning procedures.
- Conduct system testing, performance validation, balancing, and integrated system testing.
- Support customer acceptance testing, punch point closure, and final handover.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support for field engineers.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls, and BMS integration issues.
- Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
- Support implementation of service bulletins and technical upgrades.
Resource & Vendor Management
- Coordinate field engineers, subcontractors, and commissioning partners.
- Monitor manpower deployment and site productivity.
- Manage vendor performance and technical compliance.
- Support material planning and site logistics.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and industry standards.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits.
- Drive safe work practices during installation and commissioning activities.
- Maintain project documentation and records.
Customer Management
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers during project execution.
- Conduct project review meetings and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution and project delivery.
- Support warranty and post-installation activities.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, liquid cooling, CDU, and cooling infrastructure.
- Excellent troubleshooting and commissioning skills.
- Project management and stakeholder coordination experience.
- Knowledge of BMS, PLC controls, sensors, and field instrumentation.
- Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Typically 8-12 years of experience in HVAC, Data Centre Cooling, Service Operations, Installation & Commissioning, or Project Management.
- Experience in large-scale data centre, mission-critical, or industrial projects preferred.
