GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Automotive Technical Training Manager provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for a team of onsite and remote technical instructors responsible for delivering high-impact in-person and virtual training. The manager owns talent acquisition, workforce performance, operational execution, supplier relationships, budget oversight, and facility readiness to ensure consistent, high-quality training delivery across all formats.
The manager exercises independent operational decision-making authority and is accountable for personnel leadership, training delivery, supplier management, and resource allocation, in alignment with the direction and priorities established by senior leadership.

SPECIFIC DUITES:
- Leadership
- Lead, direct, and develop a geographically dispersed instructor workforce, ensuring strong performance across all delivery formats.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard instructors to meet operational and business needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations, establish measurable performance goals, and implement targeted performance improvement plans.
- Set clear expectations, provide strategic coaching, actionable feedback, and long-term development planning to build instructor capability and succession -planning.
- Build a culture of excellence, collaboration, ownership, continuous improvement and accountability
- Operational Management & Execution
- Manage technical training delivery operations, both virtual and in-person, across multiple sites and remote environments.
- Use data-driven analysis to determine workforce allocation, instructor assignments, and operational deployment in alignment with training demand and service standards.
- Establish operational standards, enforce compliance, and ensure consistency and quality across all technical training modalities.
- Drive productivity, quality, and client satisfaction through performance monitoring, operational dashboards, and proactive issue resolution.
- Identify emerging operational risks or constraints and implement corrective actions rapidly and decisively.
- Facility, Safety & Asset Oversight
- Oversee training facility readiness including shop environments, instructional spaces, diagnostic equipment, and specialized technical tools.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and OEM expectations across all training environments.
- Direct equipment maintenance programs, asset lifecycle planning, and capital expenditures required to support technical training operations.
- Evaluate long-term facility and equipment needs and develop budget recommendations for sustained readiness.
- Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Manage all external suppliers supporting training operations—including facility services, equipment vendors, and technology partners.
- Ensure clear objectives are set and proper controls are in place for supplier accountability related to contract deliverables, quality, and cost controls.
- Lead functional leaders to ensure operational alignment with technical training content, instructor needs, and organizational training priorities.
- Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless and effective technical training execution.
- Budget Ownership & Financial Oversight
- Full P&L responsibility for assigned operating budget for technical training delivery, including facilities, suppliers, technology platforms, instructor labor planning, and capital equipment.
- Monitor spending, forecast financial needs, and make informed decisions that align with organizational priorities.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Planning & Program Support
- Develop medium- and long-term operational strategies to support technical training growth, evolving program demands, and emerging automotive technologies.
- Forecast training volume, workforce needs, facility requirements, and technology investments to support sustained operational capability.
- Lead integration between training delivery and technical curriculum teams to ensure accurate content sequencing, instructor readiness, and high-quality delivery.
- Drive organizational readiness for scaling technical training programs and developing future capabilities.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 10 years automotive technician experience in an automotive repair facility.
- Minimum 6 years delivering both virtual and in-person instructor-led training.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing employee performance, including remote workforce oversight.
- Strong background in technical training operations, virtual delivery platforms, and learning management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities, especially in complex workforce and multi-site operational environments.
- Proven ability to lead multiple priorities in fast-paced, high-demand settings.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience developing technical or product training.
- Direct or indirect supervisory experience within a technical training organization.
- Experience building or managing operational project plans and initiatives.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management or a related field or 5 years equivalent work experience.
- Associates degree in Automotive Technology or 3 years equivalent work experience.
