Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Allied Trades Lead oversees the day-to-day operation of the welding, fabrication, machining and equipment paint shop. Ensures established policies and procedures are enforced effectively. Controls shop maintenance schedule to ensure maximum use of assigned personnel and inspects completed work. Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.


Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the welding, fabrication, machining, repair team, and equipment paint shop.
  • Ensures established policies and procedures are enforced effectively.
  • Controls shop maintenance schedule to ensure maximum use of assigned personnel.
  • Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and guidelines set by the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
    • High school diploma or equivalent. Must provide a copy of the diploma
    • Minimum of six (6) years of experience as a welder at the journeyman level, plus experience in body repair and painting, with at least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a driver's license (preferably a Commercial Driver's License [CDL]).
    • Must be certified welder and with Welder’s Qualification Test Certificate (WQT).
  • Skills
    • Must have basic computer skills.
    • Must have the flexibility to adapt to ever-changing mission priorities and needs.
    • Must have strong analytical skills.
    • Must be able to read, write and speak fluently
  • Working Conditions:
    • Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, rainy, environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
    • Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
