Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:Plays a crucial role in supporting the overall nursing leadership team by overseeing the implementation of evidence-based nursing practices, ensuring quality patient care delivery, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the nursing department. Collaborate with nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and administration to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and standards that align with regulatory requirements and best practices in healthcare. Through leadership and guidance, contribute to the enhancement of patient outcomes, staff development, and organizational excellence in healthcare delivery.

In collaboration with the Nursing Director and other senior leaders, and with considerable latitude for the exercise of independent judgment, the Assistant Director of Nursing for Policy, Safety, and Patient Outcomes provides strategic leadership and oversight for nursing policies, regulatory compliance, patient safety initiatives, and quality outcomes. This role ensures alignment with the nursing practice philosophy, organizational objectives, and regulatory and quality standards. The Assistant Director serves as a key representative for the Nursing Department on hospital and medical center committees and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to promote excellence in patient care, and scope of practice. Provide oversight for regulatory preparation activities, including guiding teams in the development of action plans, readiness strategies, and documentation processes for surveys conducted by The Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, and CMS. 5 years experience in nursing leadership/management in an academic medical center or tertiary setting, NYS RN licensure, BSN, MSN required.
