About this role
Lead the Accounting Function. Strengthen the Business. Help Shape What’s Next.
Trinity Solar, one of the nation’s leading residential solar companies, is looking for an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our Accounting team at our corporate headquarters in Wall Township, NJ.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a highly visible leadership role for someone who can balance strong technical accounting expertise with a practical, business-minded approach. You’ll lead the day-to-day accounting function, strengthen financial controls and reporting, develop your team, and partner with senior leadership on decisions that impact the business.
We’re looking for a Controller who is comfortable leading from the front—someone who can think strategically but isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, dig into the numbers, solve problems, and improve the way things get done.
If you’re ready to take ownership of an accounting function and make a meaningful impact in a fast-moving organization, we’d love to hear from you.
Compensation: $190,000 - $200,000/year plus 20% annual bonus potential

- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company standards.
- Develop and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends and risks, and provide meaningful insights to the CFO and executive leadership.
- Partner with leadership on annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow management, and financial planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, manage costs, and strengthen financial performance.
- Oversee the integrity and effectiveness of accounting systems and financial data.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, financial institutions, tax professionals, and other key partners.
- Partner with external CPAs on annual tax preparation and reporting across multiple entities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial and tax requirements, including multi-state sales and use tax.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation across accounting processes, reporting, and controls.
- Partner with the CFO on strategic initiatives and special projects as the business evolves.
What You Bring

- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a Controller or comparable accounting leadership role.
- Experience within a service-based industry such as construction, HVAC, home improvement, renewable energy, or solar strongly preferred.
- Strong command of GAAP, financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Knowledge of multi-state income, sales, and use tax requirements.
- Experience with job-costing systems and online customer billing platforms is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong experience working with accounting and ERP systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and drive solutions.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, business leaders, auditors, and external partners.
- Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
The Opportunity
This is more than an opportunity to oversee the books. As Controller, you'll have the ability to strengthen the accounting organization, develop your team, modernize processes, and provide the financial insight leadership needs to make better decisions.
You'll work directly with the CFO, have visibility across the organization, and play an important role in building a finance function that can support Trinity Solar's continued evolution.
Lead the function. Build the team. Strengthen the business.
