What You'll Do

The Platform Engineering team is responsible for building, managing, and evolving TJX's enterprise Integration Platforms. These platforms enable scalable business integrations, automation capabilities, and emerging AI-driven solutions across the organization.

As a Sr. Staff Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and modernizing integration platform capabilities. You will partner across Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that power critical business processes.

This role requires strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to solve complex business challenges while mentoring engineers and driving engineering excellence across the organization.

Ideal Candidate Persona -

We are seeking a seasoned integration technology leader with 12+ years of experience across Integration Platform Engineering and Enterprise Service Delivery. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of architecting, modernizing, operating, and supporting enterprise-scale integration platforms in cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments.

This is a hands-on Individual Contributor (IC) role designed for a senior technical leader who excels at solving complex integration challenges while driving platform reliability, automation, security, scalability, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of the integration landscape by influencing architectural decisions, leading large-scale technical initiatives, and championing platform best practices.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and business-critical integration solutions. You will also mentor and guide junior engineers, foster technical excellence, and drive continuous improvement across the integration ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

  • Lead architectural discussions and establish scalable design approaches for complex enterprise integration solutions.

  • Drive the evolution of platform engineering capabilities, ensuring alignment with TJX technology strategy and business objectives.

  • Partner with Solution Assurance and Architecture teams to deliver secure, resilient, and supportable solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers across the organization.

Platform Engineering & Solution Delivery

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support highly scalable integration platform services and capabilities.

  • Build and maintain cloud-native and hybrid integration solutions supporting enterprise-wide business processes.

  • Develop secure, performant, and maintainable software components that meet functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Infrastructure, Security, and Platform teams throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Drive automation across platform operations, deployment, testing, and monitoring activities.

Operational Excellence

  • Own end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives, ensuring quality, reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization activities.

  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.

  • Establish and maintain operational standards, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and platform compliance requirements.

  • Adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and all applicable TJX technology standards and policies.

Collaboration & Innovation

  • Partner with global teams to define technical roadmaps and prioritize platform enhancements.

  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies including AI, automation, integration, cloud, and platform engineering.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce operational risk, and improve platform efficiency.

Leadership Expectations

  • Lead medium to large-scale initiatives with minimal guidance.

  • Mentor engineers and help elevate technical capabilities across the team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise integration technologies.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing complex enterprise integration solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of integration architecture patterns, middleware platforms, and distributed systems.

  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native and hybrid integration solutions.

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Strong understanding of operational excellence principles, including monitoring, reliability, resiliency, and performance management.

  • Experience managing platform security, vulnerability remediation, compliance requirements, and risk reduction activities.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large technical initiatives and mentor engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with enterprise networking and infrastructure technologies including DNS, F5, DMZ, security groups, and load balancing.

  • Experience with messaging and event streaming platforms such as Kafka, IBM MQ, Amazon SQS, or equivalent technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with API Management and Integration platforms including Boomi, Google Apigee, Azure API Management, or similar solutions.

  • Experience with application hosting technologies such as IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Azure App Services, or equivalent platforms.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) solutions including IBM ACE and Azure Service Bus.

  • Experience leading on-premises to cloud migration initiatives, particularly within Microsoft Azure environments.

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools including Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines, PowerShell, Vault, and infrastructure automation technologies.

  • Strong understanding of security, governance, compliance, and enterprise technology best practices.

  • Experience with data integration technologies including ETL, ELT, and CDC solutions such as IBM DataStage, Fivetran, and Infosphere.

  • Experience with B2B integration technologies including EDI, Cleo Harmony, and related solutions.

  • Experience with Managed File Transfer solutions including Progress MOVEit and WS_FTP.
