The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated, safety-focused Mechanical Technician to join our Operations team. This entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to build technical skills through hands-on training and on-the-job experience while supporting the maintenance and operation of company facilities and equipment.

Working under the guidance of experienced technicians and operations personnel, the successful candidate will assist with facility maintenance, equipment repairs, inspections, and operational support to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role provides a structured development path with opportunities to progress into higher-level maintenance and operational positions as qualifications and competencies are achieved.

What You'll Do

  • Perform general facility maintenance, housekeeping, and upkeep of company buildings, grounds, and associated infrastructure.
  • Assist with preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
  • Support supervised maintenance activities involving mechanical, electrical, and operational equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections of facilities and equipment, and report deficiencies or corrective actions needed.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting, repairs, and replacement of equipment components.
  • Support work planning and execution, including gathering tools, materials, and equipment needed for maintenance tasks.
  • Complete work orders, maintenance records, and other required documentation in company systems.
  • Participate in daily safety meetings, job hazard assessments, and safe work planning activities.
  • Follow company operating procedures, environmental requirements, and safety standards, including Stop Work Authority (SWA) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices.
  • Assist with emergency response, outage support, and operational activities as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Work closely with experienced team members to develop technical knowledge and meet competency requirements associated with progression within the Technician Qualification Program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical, vocational, or trades-related education from a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, construction, industrial operations, utilities, energy, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems, such as SAP or similar platforms.
  • Mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance training.

Position Requirements

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to operational emergencies, as required.
  • Travel occasionally to other company facilities for training or operational support.
  • Perform physical work, including walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, and working in confined spaces or elevated locations where permitted and qualified.
