About the Job
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor to join our Coat Shop Department. The primary responsibility of this position is to supervise, coordinate, and schedule the daily activities of the section. The production supervisor will be responsible for maintaining garment quality while increasing production efficiency with an eye towards continuous improvement. The production supervisor is also responsible for the safety of the operators within their section as well as being an active participant in the safety programs of the factory.
What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise, coordinate and schedule daily activities for staff in the section to meet customer needs and delivery requirements in a safe manner.
  • Maintain a safe working environment through good housekeeping and employee training.
  • Report on all incidents and accidents and near misses.
  • Train staff in duties, safety procedures and company policies.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained for safe and efficient usage by reporting all repair needs in a timely manner.
  • Be up to date and trained in current production methods for all jobs within the section.
  • Ensure all garments are correctly manufactured to current methods.
  • Meet weekly quality, production and efficiency targets.
  • Ensure all quality standards are adhered to.
  • Identify quality concerns for the quality manager.
  • Staff the section to meet current production goals and account for absences.
  • Crosstrain employees where necessary to manage through absences.
  • Identify staffing concerns and communicate them to the department manager.
  • Interview applicants for potential new recruits.
  • Responsible for coordinating approvals and denials of planned time off for employees.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve garment quality and manufacturing productivity.
  • Coordinate flow of work with corresponding sections to assure productive flow in the factory.
  • Record and report daily progress on manufacturing goals, efficiency, labor hours and current projects.
  • Responsible for working with the HR department for the discipline of underperforming employees as necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Participate in technical problem solving.
  • Assist the continuous implementation of 6S.
  • Recommend cost cutting ideas.
  • Recommend equipment layout improvements within the section.
  • Deliver Weekly Section Meetings as needed.
  • Required to attend meetings for training in changes in manufacturing processes, process changes, professional growth, and corporate policy.
 
 Skills & Experience
·      2–4+ years of experience in Distribution, Supply Chain, or Operations preferred.
·      Previous management experience preferred
·      Previous manufacturing experience preferred
·      Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
·      Bilingual (English/Portuguese/Spanish) preferred
·      Strong organizational and prioritization abilities, along with keen attention to detail  
·      Ability to handle stressful situations and deadline pressures well
·      Flexible and able to adapt to the changing needs of the business

Work Environment:
This job operates in an Office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers & keyboards, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

The starting salary for this position is $60,000-$65,000 and may increase to $70,000 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
