About the Role:

As an R&D Electrical Engineer in the Advanced Products department, you will participate in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems that enhance product performance and manufacturing efficiency. You will be responsible for developing solutions to complex problems in the software and hardware spaces, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide technical expertise to solve challenging engineering problems and optimize electrical designs. Your role will also involve contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department. Ultimately, your work will drive innovation and reliability in manufacturing processes, supporting the company’s strategic goals and operational excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electrical components, systems, and equipment for manufacturing applications.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain fixtures for testing optomechanical and electromechanical systems, to include: conceptual mechanical design; COTS specifications, sourcing, and integration; UI design and implementation; and test data management.
  • Contribute to electrical engineering projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet project goals.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, production teams, and quality assurance to integrate electrical solutions effectively.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues during product development and manufacturing phases.
  • Prepare detailed documentation, including specifications, schematics, and test plans.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality.

  • Execute daily process improvement using lean manufacturing methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Background, experience, and understanding of electronic circuitry, design, and analysis
  • Background and understanding of schematic capture and PCB layout including data package delivery and interface with board fabrication house. Knowledge of rigid-flex assemblies is a plus.
  • Practical electronics lab experience such as soldering, reflow, component testing and sourcing is required.
  • Background and understanding of specifying and code generation for MCUs and RISCs with associated knowledge of peripherals, sensors, and other hardware (C, C++, Arduino, etc.)
  • Background and understanding of coding in scripting and programming languages in support of various R&D objectives including test equipment interface, data processing, data acquisition, etc.
  • Familiarity with various serial interfaces, Python environments, C family environments.
  • Familiarity with PIC and MPLAB is a plus.
  • Experience in coordinating prototype builds and supporting the transition to the manufacturing process.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing test procedures for electronic circuity, (hardware/firmware), based on product specifications and requirements.
  • Self-starter and team player who possesses the ability to research and effectively resolve technical issues.
  • Must have technical writing skills necessary to generate product evaluations and test reports.


Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and at least 3 years relevant work experience preferred.


Mathematical Skills

  • Calculus (select appropriate level):
    • Advanced proficiency in utilizing calculus to solve problems gained through taking more than three college level courses.


Computer Skills

  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Must be proficient in development tools and electronic development tools.
  • Knowledge of drafting programs is a plus.

Pay Range
The hiring range for this role is $90,000.00 to $120,000.00. The hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location.
