About this role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with 6–12 years of experience to join an early-stage, AI-native fintech/healthtech startup and own critical product initiatives end-to-end. You'll work closely with the CTO to shape Sunbound's revenue operating system, the platform that processes $1B+ in payments annually for senior care operators across 45 states. This is a high-ownership role where you'll take ambiguous problems, break them down, and ship them to production independently. We need someone who treats data with care, moves fast, and thrives without layers of support around them. If you want your work to directly impact seniors and families navigating care, this is the role.
What will you be doing?
Take product initiatives, break them into executable chunks, and drive them to production independently
Make architectural and engineering design decisions that shape the platform's backend infrastructure
Collaborate cross-functionally with product and non-technical stakeholders on product ideation and direction
Build and improve AI-powered automation for payments, claims, and revenue workflows in senior care
Propose and implement improvements to tooling and processes as an early member of a small, high-impact engineering team
