ARIANET, the Air & Climate
unit in Italy, delivers studies, develops, designs, installs and manages
cutting-edge solutions related to air quality management: diagnostic, real-time
monitoring, forecast and scenario studies, for a proven customer base of
industries, public and para-public entities.
To provide the best
environmental solutions for our customers, we are strengthening our applied
modeling team which performs studies and develops and manage simulation systems
in industrial and urban areas.
In this context, we are
looking for an:
Air quality modeler
Your mission
You will
join the ARIANET team, and you will be involved in atmospheric modelling, concerning
mainly dispersion, chemical transformation and ground deposition of pollutants
at regional and urban scales.
You will mainly
use a simulation system including meteorological and emission models and based
on FARM (Flexible Air Quality Regional Model) chemical-transport model,
developed by ARIANET in collaboration with national and international research
centers and with a significant user base.
You will
contribute to the multiple applications of the system, typically: operational forecast
of ambient air quality, yearly air quality assessments, reconstruction of past
events, estimation of sources contributions, scenario studies in support of
policy planning and impact assessment studies. These activities will also
include drafting the relevant technical reports and presenting the results to
clients, mostly public but also private.
You will
progressively participate in the development of the models’ new features,
documenting them.
You will
also be able to actively participate in research activities carried out within
European projects and to contribute to the drafting of scientific publications.
Your profile
You are the one if you:
- have a master's degree in physics, engineering, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
- possess basic knowledge of atmospheric physics and/or meteorology, acquired through university courses or documented post-graduate experience
- have 2-4 years’ work experience in the field of atmospheric modelling
- have a good command of Unix/Linux environments and of Fortran or Python programming languages
- have good knowledge of the English language and good writing skills
- have a strong motivation and interest in actively working in the environmental field
- have good analytical and communication skills
- can work independently while coordinating within a team
Following proven expertise and skills are a strong plus:
PhD in meteorology, atmospheric physics or chemistry, natural sciences, environmental engineering
experience with numerical modeling and scientific programming
high-performance computing environments, parallelization and optimization of computational codes
use of machine-learning in support of quantitative analyses and modelling in environmental field
use of GIS for environmental applications
CFD modelling
Conditions
Full-time job.
Place of work: Milano.
Salary: 32-38 k€ yearly gross (excluding bonus), commensurate
with the qualifications and experience
of the candidate.
