In this Marine Payroll Associate role, you will focus on gathering, interpreting, and using complex data to develop actionable steps that improve processes and optimize results in the marine payroll and related accounting activities. You will be expected to provide quality analysis that supports business partners and organizational stakeholders in their decision-making process, ensuring that transactional processing, account analysis, reconciliations, and reporting are performed in line with defined Service Level Agreements. The role will require you to handle queries from internal and external counterparts and customers, support internal control requirements, and contribute to audit readiness and execution. You will also participate in projects and initiatives that aim to enhance systems and processes.

What you will be doing

As a Marine Payroll Associate, you will be responsible for executing day-to-day transactional processing related to your assigned accounts, ensuring all activities comply with established Service Level Agreements and internal standards. You will work extensively with data, gathering and interpreting complex information to produce analyses that support decision-making for business partners and organizational stakeholders, particularly in areas linked to marine payroll, account analysis, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting. On a regular basis, you will collaborate with internal and external customers and counterparts to resolve queries, clarify information, and ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial data. You will help maintain strong internal controls by ensuring your work is compliant with Stolt-Nielsen’s Policies & Procedures, applicable IFRS or GAAP requirements, and relevant regulatory standards. You will support both internal and external audits by preparing audit-ready documentation, responding to requests, and ensuring the audit-worthiness of your assigned accounts and reports. In addition, you will contribute to the development and recommendation of new reports to complement existing reporting, and you may be assigned to participate in projects aimed at improving systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Perform necessary transactional processing in his/her assignment in compliance with established Service Level Agreements
  • Perform account analysis, accruals, reconciliation, and reporting to support accounting cycles and business requirements in compliance with established Service Level Agreements
  • Handle queries from counterparts and customers, both internal and external
  • Ensure that the appropriate internal controls are in place and are in compliance with Stolt-Nielsen’s Policies & Procedures, with IFRS or the applicable GAAP, and with relevant government or regulatory authorities
  • Develop and recommend new reports that will support and complement existing reports in accordance with the information needs of the customer
  • Support external and internal audit and ensure audit-worthiness of assigned accounts/reports/responsibilities and assist during regular internal and external audit
  • Perform other tasks which may be assigned by his/her Supervisor/Manager, including projects to improve systems and processes

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or other related business course.
  • Has at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification an advantage
  • Can demonstrate at least Intermediate MS Excel knowledge
  • Ability to read, understand, verbally exchange information and compose written material for business purposes in English
  • Ability to express ideas and information in an organized and logical manner
  • Quantitative and analytical skills for problem solving and issue/risk mitigation
  • Basic knowledge of finance and accounting principles and processes
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement to work effectiveness and efficiency, and drive necessary action to completion
  • Demonstrate sound work ethics, respect, team building, and cultural sensitivity and awareness
  • Highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and proven leadership
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks at a time
