About this role

Some of what you will do:

Position is required to plan and execute a variety of complex projects in select store locations across Canada, acting as the primary contact on site for the duration of each project.  These projects include but are not limited to store openings, relocations, closures, and renovations, as well as special projects in partnership with other departments. Plays a critical role in ensuring all participants demonstrate Staples objectives and values through each project.

 

Specifically, You Will:

  • Oversees deliveries, merchandising, POG compliance, signage execution and deficiency resolution.

  • Provides ongoing verbal coaching and feedback to all participants throughout the project to ensure proper execution and associate development.

  • Provides written feedback at the conclusion of all projects to assigned team members in a timely manner, and relays information to operations as required. 

  • Manages interaction with and requirements of all participants and third party vendors onsite.               

  • Ensures that new and renovated stores are set-up to established brand guidelines, policies, procedures and standards. 

  • Directly and indirectly supervise to influence and motivate project participants towards achieving goals and objectives.

  • During store renovations, actively works to ensure processes and initiatives are in place to maintain sales and customer service standards. 

  • Responsible for placing and tracking orders with established vendors for equipment, supplies and services required for assigned projects.

 

Some of what you need:

  • Post-secondary education an asset.

  • 2-3 years of Retail Store Operations leadership experience.

  • Retail Store Opening experience required.

  • Retail merchandising is an asset. Project management experience is preferred.

 

Physical demands/working conditions:

  • Significant travel across Canada required (up to 75% of the year).

  • Required to work a varying work schedule in order to meet the needs of the business.  This would include working evenings, overnights and weekends as required. Some projects require up to 6 weeks of overnight shifts.
