GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  The Dispensary Manager (DM) is responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient operation of the dispensary including: organizing the work flow of the staff, implementing marketing initiatives, protecting dispensary assets, ensuring customer service standards, sales goals and KPI’s are met and maintaining the appearance of the overall dispensary. The DM is also responsible for ensuring the Dispensary Team is providing compassionate, quality, and accurate knowledge to all of our members.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports to Regional Retail Manager


SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Manages Dispensary Supervisors, Safety Hosts, Member Consultants, Inventory Member Consultants and  Delivery Drivers.


EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  1. Primary decision maker in the absence of Regional Retail Manager.

  2. Oversee day-to-day dispensary operations while following strict controls to protect dispensary’s assets, i.e. cannabis, cash, etc.

  3. Analyze, organize and implement office operations and procedures, i.e. reviewing time clock punches, tip distribution, etc. 

  4. Develop and give presentations to staff, leadership, and the greater public regarding retail operations, recruiting opportunities, and company overview.

  5. Maintain an accurate inventory for all items in the dispensary and reducing shrink

  6. Secures merchandise by implements security systems and measures

  7. Monitoring KPI’s and developing response to shifting in business

  8. Oversee dispensary supplies, appearance, and maintenance in accordance with set standards. 

  9. Ensures merchandising standards are met in partnership with leadership and inventory teams for increased sales and customer experience.

  10. Monitors staff and holds team accountable to dispensary policies and procedures while maintaining a continued awareness of industry.

  11. Elicit and process feedback from staff and members. 

  12. Facilitate monthly Supervisor meetings, build leadership team through training and continued education. Assign weekly work lists and goals, follow up to ensure completion. 

  13. Facilitate regular department meetings to increase knowledge and create 

an environment focused on member service and education.

  1. Observe employee performance and coach team on improvements (in the moment and privately), 

ensure all members receive high quality service from staff and to increase sales.

  1. Facilitate recruiting process, including reviewing resumes/applications, interviewing, and hiring. 

  2. Oversee training of all new staff and ensure Training Manuals are up-to- date and accurate. 

  3. Provides 90 day and Annual Reviews and disciplinary actions for all staff supervised 

  4. Models service leader behavior on the sales floor for optimal customer service and sales.

  5. Facilitates coaching, mediation, de-escalation of issues related to members and team members using positive and effective communication techniques.

  6. Supports staffing within all regional locations as needed to ensure business operations

  7. Plan and coordinate staff levels during peak and recession

  8. Create weekly staff schedule ensuring all shifts are covered. 

  9. Meet weekly with Regional Retail Manager to report on dispensary status. 

  10. Performs regular quality assurance audits.

  11. Strong understanding of State and Local regulations

  12. Ensures dispensary is in compliance with regulations at all times

  13. Maintain a positive work environment conducive to trust and respect.

  14. Maintain strictest confidentiality.

  15. Perform other related work as required. 



Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  7. Ability to dispense cannabis accurately and efficiently. 

  8. Basic understanding of Federal, State and Local employment laws.

  9. Good working knowledge of Google Suite, including Excel and Google Sheets.

  10. Experience and comfortable giving presentations in both small and large groups, as well as speaking at local government levels and throughout the community.

  11. Ability to create and analyze reports and interpret retail data

  12. Strong customer service and managerial skills.

  13. Ability to adapt to changing industry and growing business. 

  14. Knowledgeable on strains, genetics, growing and effects of cannabis

  15. Needs to have high level of patience and flexibility. 

  16. Must have successful time management skills, the ability to self-manage scheduling and maintain punctuality with scheduled events. 

  17. Strong written and oral communication skills necessary.

  18. Refined interpersonal skills.  Demonstrate the highest level of customer service and professional relationship maintenance. 

  19. Must possess the mental and physical capacities to perform the job duties. 

  20. Professional appearance with reliable and timely attendance.

  21. History of meeting and exceeding sales goals and increasing KPI’s

  22. Merchandising background preferred 

  23. Specialty Retail, Grocery, cosmetics and CPG experience preferred

  24. Loss Prevention experience preferred


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Retail management, cash handling experience and Point of Service (POS) experience required. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience. Experience in the cannabis industry is highly desirable, but not required. Must be 21 years old and pass criminal background check.


TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Work may require prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a cash register, credit card machine, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing. Requires close vision with the ability to see color and adjust focus. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.


TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in a busy cannabis dispensary. Involves frequent contact with staff and the public. Work may be stressful at times and may include dealing with law enforcement and/or difficult members and/or personnel challenges. Required to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with frequently changing schedule as determined by business needs.
