Smith Industries is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler to support our warehouse operations. This position is responsible for moving, organizing, receiving, and delivering materials and supplies while helping maintain an organized and efficient warehouse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, move, and organize materials, parts, and supplies.
- Move inventory to and from the warehouse and other designated areas as needed.
- Receive, store, organize, and deliver inventory and supplies.
- Use a company vehicle to pick up parts, tools, and supplies from vendors and deliver them to the warehouse, field, or other locations as needed.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries and shipments.
- Maintain accurate documentation for orders, deliveries, and inventory transactions.
- Assist with monthly physical inventory counts.
- Identify and report damaged materials, shortages, or shipment discrepancies.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse and storage areas.
- Follow proper equipment operating procedures and assist with basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Communicate with supervisors and other departments regarding inventory transfers, priorities, and material needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift operating experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of the workday.
- Ability to occasionally bend, squat, climb ladders or stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely assess weights, distances, and heights.
