Smith Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Level I Painter to support our fabrication operations. This role is responsible for preparing vessels and fabricated products for painting and performing touch-up work to ensure finished products meet quality and safety standards.

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, wear required PPE, exercise stop-work authority when conditions are unsafe, and immediately report all incidents, accidents, or safety concerns to a supervisor
  • Prepare vessels and other Smith Industries products for painting and touch-up
  • Perform surface preparation including sanding, cleaning, inspecting, masking, and taping
  • Prepare products for painting by blowing down with air, wiping with thinner, and cleaning surfaces as required
  • Perform touch-up painting to correct imperfections and ensure product quality
  • Safely use small hand tools and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in industrial painting or paint preparation preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and surface preparation techniques
  • Commitment to safe work practices and hazard recognition (JSA experience a plus)
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
