About this role

Software is not just vital but a strategic cornerstone of our operations. We’re looking for a Product Designer to set the cross-application UX direction for our commercial software - from pharma cold-chain visibility that helps temperature-sensitive medicines move safely around the world, to ULD tracking for airlines. You’ll define a consistent, high-quality experience across our modules and applications and support our specialised designers in bringing that experience to life, while remaining hands-on in discovery, from the first user conversation through to the final UX.

📍 Location: We are open to candidates based anywhere within the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands, with remote working available within these countries. Hybrid option available in the Netherlands.

Founded in Switzerland in 2012, SkyCell is transforming global pharmaceutical supply chains through a combination of advanced temperature-controlled containers, IoT connectivity, and digital solutions.

Our integrated product ecosystem helps leading pharmaceutical companies reduce risk, improve operational efficiency, and ensure the safe delivery of life-saving medicines worldwide.

Today, SkyCell operates at the intersection of hardware, software, data, and logistics - combining Swiss engineering excellence with a growing digital platform to shape the future of connected pharma supply chains.

What You'll Do:

A dedicated framework team owns our Design System and Design Guidelines, while embedded designers craft the screens and flows within each product module. Your role is to set the overall direction for the experience they design towards — including experience principles, end-to-end journeys and measurable outcomes that help multiple modules feel like one product.

You will:

  • Lead discovery end-to-end, including user research and interviews, journey mapping, jobs-to-be-done, pain points and opportunities, and translate research into a shared foundation for UX and product decisions

  • Create wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes hands-on using Figma and/or code to explore and test concepts during discovery, and run evaluative tests with users and engineers

  • Define the cross-application UX vision, design principles and success metrics together with Product and Marketing

  • Support and align our specialised designers - framework and embedded - around a consistent experience across modules and applications

  • Communicate UX principles and investment priorities to senior leadership, demonstrating the value and potential impact of UX-related roadmap items

  • Maintain the UX roadmap and prioritise pattern and design investments with the framework team

  • Produce high-level experience flows and service blueprints that connect journeys across applications and domains

  • Review Design System and module deliverables for alignment with experience strategy and brand

  • Support embedded designers from discovery through to delivery by co-framing problems, reviewing flows against the cross-application blueprint and ensuring continuity across user journeys

  • Set KPIs and use analytics, user research, A/B tests and competitive analysis to inform and refine design decisions

  • Promote a UX culture centred on user needs, inclusive design and accessibility standards such as WCAG across the organisation

  • Collaborate with Marketing on tone, terminology and brand consistency across products

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Experience as a senior or lead product designer working on complex B2B software, ideally within supply chain, logistics, aviation/air cargo or pharma

  • Strong experience leading discovery, from understanding user needs through research and prototyping to defining and refining UX solutions

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, with experience creating and iterating wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes

  • Experience bringing together multiple designers, including without formal reporting lines, to create a consistent experience across products or modules

  • Ability to communicate UX strategy, priorities and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders

  • Working knowledge of design systems and accessibility standards such as WCAG; experience partnering with design system teams is an advantage

  • Experience designing for multiple user groups, such as pharma quality/logistics teams and airline cargo operations, is beneficial

If you don’t meet every requirement but bring relevant experience and skills, we’d still like to hear from you.
