About this role

Skillforce is hiring Maintenance Mechanics for ongoing project work in Richmond, Virginia. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing production, packaging, and facility equipment in a food processing plant. This is second shift work in a sanitation and GMP driven environment where equipment uptime and food safety come first. Maintenance Mechanic Pay:

  • $28.00 to $31.00 per hour based on your experience level.
  • W-2 employment with weekly pay by direct deposit.

Maintenance Mechanic Schedule:

  • Second shift, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, full time.
  • Ongoing project work with a consistent weekly schedule.
  • Overtime is available when production calls for it.

Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment from manuals and schematics.
  • Diagnose issues by observing machine operation, listening for abnormal sounds, and using test instruments to find the cause.
  • Dismantle equipment to replace defective parts and inspect components for wear against specifications.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace mechanical and control parts to restore equipment performance and reduce line downtime.
  • Install and align structural and functional components, then lubricate, clean, and test to verify the repair.
  • Operate drill presses, grinders, and other fabrication tools to build or repair parts.
  • Monitor equipment during production runs and make emergency repairs that protect food safety and product quality.
  • Keep a clean, sanitized work area consistent with GMP standards and document repairs and parts used.

Maintenance Mechanic Qualifications:

  • You have three or more years of industrial maintenance or equipment installation experience.
  • You have working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • You can read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.
  • You have reliable transportation to the job site.
  • You can pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Food, beverage, or other high volume production plant experience is a plus.
