About the Role:
Skillforce is seeking Carpenter-Journeymen for projects in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC areas. This position requires the skilled execution of carpentry tasks including framing, installation, repair, and finishing work to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic quality. The journeyman carpenter will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and other tradespeople to meet project specifications and deadlines.
Pay and Schedule:
Pay: Starts at $32 per hour depending on skillset
Schedule: 40 hours per week guaranteed, Monday through Friday.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of commercial carpentry experience.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and safety practices.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations specific to waste management sites.
- Certification in OSHA safety standards or equivalent safety training.
- Proficiency with advanced carpentry machinery and digital measuring tools.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior carpenters.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan carpentry work accurately.
- Construct, install, and repair frameworks, structures, and fixtures using wood, plywood, and other materials.
- Measure, cut, and shape materials with precision using hand and power tools.
- Ensure all carpentry work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and maintain project timelines.
- Inspect and maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Assist in site preparation and cleanup to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and less experienced carpenters.
