How you’ll make an impact:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will bring broad technical expertise to design, build, own, and maintain backend services and products across AdsWizz and SXM Media. You will independently lead complex, significant, and unique engineering work, determine technical approaches and evaluation criteria, and coordinate across groups to deliver scalable products and data onboarding capabilities while contributing to engineering objectives and principles.

What you’ll do:

  • Independently design and build high-performance, stable, scalable AdsWizz systems for enterprise deployment, determining methods and procedures for new or special assignments.
  • Lead short- and mid-term technical outcomes on complex projects, applying independent judgment and creativity to significant and unique engineering issues.
  • Create and maintain formal working networks across engineering teams and other stakeholder groups to coordinate technical decisions and delivery.
  • Own technical execution with clarity and precision, define technical approaches and evaluation criteria, and provide clear direction to drive projects forward effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Product team to clarify project scope and translate business needs into effective technical approaches.
  • Collaborate with Global Operations teams to ensure flawless production deployments, coordinate across groups, and support the Incident Management team.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and provide technical guidance; may lead teams or projects without direct people-management accountability.
  • Apply broad expertise or unique knowledge to contribute to engineering objectives and principles and achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

What you’ll need:

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience in Java programming language (preferably JDK17 or higher).
  • 4+ years of experience crafting microservices and scalable products, utilizing diverse cloud platforms, ideally AWS.
  • Strong understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration management, release management, and system verification and testing.
  • Ability to independently determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments and lead entire projects or significant workstreams to completion.
  • Proven ability to research and become proficient in new technologies.
  • Experience identifying and debugging performance bottlenecks.
  • Good understanding of RESTful API design principles, API security standards, and best practices in API versioning and management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in constructing detailed software architecture diagrams.
  • Ability to create and sustain formal networks across engineering, Product, Operations, and other stakeholder groups to coordinate outcomes.
  • Proficient in implementing industry best practices and design patterns tailored for microservices-driven applications.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating significant and unique issues where solutions require independent judgment beyond standard practices and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring less experienced engineers and, where needed, leading technical teams or projects.
  • Mandatory technical expertise in the following areas:
  • REST API-based microservices using SpringBoot and Hibernate
  • Reactive programming (RxJava or Webflux)
  • Relational Databases (preferably MariaDB or MySQL)
  • Caching implementations (like Redis, Memcached, etc)
  • Messaging platforms (preferably Kafka)
  • Essential Amazon Cloud Services, e.g., S3, CloudTrail, SQS, SNS, and others
  • Automated integration testing frameworks and tools, like Wiremock, Cucumber
  • Working with containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack
  • Collaboration tools like Lucidchart, Jira and Confluence.
  • We consider a plus having good expertise in any of the following areas:
  • Designing and maintaining Public APIs
  • Security basics (e.g., OAuth2 standard)
  • Advanced Amazon Cloud Services, e.g., Lambda, API Gateway, ElasticCache, Athena, Kinesis, EKS, Cognito, and others
  • NoSQL database (like Druid, DynamoDB, MongoDB, or others)
