SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Distribution Shift Manager develops, leads, and manages a team of employees required to execute the daily shipping and receiving functions required to get the right product to the right place in a safe and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directs the daily staffing to complement the workload as prioritized by the shipment planner and receiving schedule
Supervises team performance including recognizing achievements and addressing poor performance on a regular basis.
Communicates and solves item issues timely with appropriate departments (i.e. Customer Care, Sourcing, Manufacturing, etc.)
Responsible for productivity performance enhancements and improvements. Drives operational improvements and efficiencies. Presents warehouse enhancements to Logistics Manager for approval.
Monitors the Warehouse Management System to manage the daily workload and assists team members in problem solving
Counsels individuals not meeting required expectations according to discipline procedures
Enforces accountability regarding productivity, quality, housekeeping, and safety standards
Communicate with staffing agency and Logistics Manager on job performance for temporary staff
Authorizes routine equipment repairs (internal and external) that pertain to the operation
Documents and reports hourly partner attendance
Renders feedback regarding the performance of hourly Partners and Associates
Develop talent by position and train team to be highly efficient
Organizes the daily manpower efficiently to achieve optimum shipments and receipts
Upholds excellent departmental communications (internal and external)
Monitors labor management daily for compliance
Achieves individual and team goals and promotes employee engagement
Refuses deliveries that do not meet company standards
Composes and administers performance appraisals (off-cycle and annual)
Leads huddles to communicate relevant information on a timely basis
Interviews and selects qualified candidates for hiring
Reports, investigates, and communicates all safety incidents/initiatives
Maintains a housekeeping program
Assists truck drivers with relevant paperwork and handling of external customer calls
Performs special projects as assigned by the Logistics Manager
Facilitates safety sub committees as assigned
Monitors equipment hour’s usage for contractual compliance.
Utilizes KPI / report tools
Manage and direct up to 35 people
Proposes overtime to meet the daily goals
Supports continuous improvement projects
Ability to manage costs drivers and improvement targets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Four-year college degree or equivalent field experience
3-5 years front-line supervision experience is highly preferred.
Strong communication and conflict management skills

Ability to use a PC with knowledge of Word, Excel, and email preferred
Knowledge of logistics /supply chain systems and practices
Experience managing inbound / outbound DC functions
