\nThe Job Context

We are looking for engineers who can own, maintain and evolve the platform and tooling that power ARTESCA — Scality’s cyber-resilient S3 storage, allowing our customers to get immutable, zero-trust backup storage that scales from 20TB to petabytes.

You’ll be integrated in a team of ~7 people with varied backgrounds (production operations, pure development, security, product management…) ranging from 1 to 30+ years of experience, all willing and able to share their experience to contribute to your technical and human growth, and to benefit from your experience as well.

You will be taking part in MK8s open source project (https://github.com/scality/metalk8s).

Inside the team, we have specific roles and plenty of growing paths for you:

  • Individual contributor: everybody participates in the daily work of the team.
  • Feature lead: to accompany a feature from design to delivery.
  • Technical lead: to be the reference point for a specific perimeter in the product.
  • Architect: to lead feature designs and make sure we stay aligned with the technical strategy of the company.
  • Product owner: to decide priorities and build the roadmap.
  • Team leader: acting as a manager, to be responsible for the work environment in general, from approving holidays to sharing company strategy throughout solving day-to-day issues.

The Technical Stack

  • Kubernetes
    • Custom K8S (Scality metalk8s)
    • Containerd
    • Helm
    • Kubevirt
    • Multus
    • Calico
    • Cert-Manager
    • Gateway Api
  • Languages: Golang / Python / Bash
  • OS: Rocky Linux / RPM packaging
  • Orchestration: Salt

  • Virtualization: VMWare vSphere, Proxmox, Hyper-V
  • SGBDR: PostgreSQL
  • Git / GitHub / Github Actions as CI
  • Cloud Providers: AWS/Scaleway/OVH for virtual labs
Main Mission: What you’ll do
  • Build and maintain the platform behind ARTESCA: the Operating System and Kubernetes control plane, workers, add-ons, and solutions that underpin ARTESCA in its various deployment options (Software Appliance, Hardware Appliance, Virtual Appliance, and ARTESCA+ Veeam all-in-one).
  • Harden security and compliance: CIS benchmarks, SBOM, vulnerability management tooling (e.g. Dependency-Track/Anchore), and secret management — directly supporting ARTESCA’s cyber resilience and Cyber Guarantee.
  • Contribute to installer and product workflows: multi-node/HA deployment, state management, pre-checks, and cloud/vendor integrations (e.g. AWS, VMWare) for guided deployment and validated backup vendor integrations (Veeam, Cohesity, Commvault, Rubrik, and others).
  • Own upgrades and lifecycle: Operating System and Kubernetes versions, Helm charts, operators, and base images so the product stays secure, simple to deploy, and ready for high availability and fast restores.
  • Ensure ARTESCA stays intuitive, low-touch and recovery-ready at scale by :
    • writing and maintaining documentation (operations, install, solutions)
    • writing and maintaining  tests (integration, upgrade, stability)
  • Improve CI/CD: GitHub Actions, devcontainers, diff-based or cost-aware CI, automated testing to release reliably.
AI-Assisted Engineering

We actively use AI tools (including Claude Code and similar) as part of our engineering workflow.

You will:

  • use AI to explore codebases, generate implementations, and debug systems
  • validate and refine AI-generated code in production-grade environments
