SAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior-Level Systems Engineer to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career in Ashburn, VA.

This position is hybrid-remote and requires 2 days on-site in Ashburn, VA. 

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day planning, scheduling, prioritizing, tracking and reporting for mission critical software development projects using Java and cloud technologies.  The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating the delivery of projects and managing all dependencies with other project teams within the organization
  • Leading remote software development teams 
  • Facilitating critical conversations between stakeholders that may include shifting or competing priorities, conflict resolution and de-escalation
  • Working knowledge of SELC and associated documentation (project plans, charters, business cases, requirements documents, test plans, reports, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge and prior experience working in software development environments using an Agile methodology
  • Working closely with business and solution resources to define, analyze and document requirements/user stories
  • Working with senior executives, clients and business analysts to gather requirements. Interpret and translate the captured technical and functional requirements into technical documentation that can be used by both the project management team and the development teams to develop the end user software
  • In-depth knowledge and prior experience managing and implementing business processes in a data centric, mission critical environment 
  • Contribute to project scoping, including requirement assessment, best practices, application design and development, and process methodologies.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 9+ years of relevant experience
  • 9+ years in agile development projects – a strong working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies 
  • 5+ years of demonstrated data analysis, requirements management and design experience. The candidate will oversee work milestones (end to end). This may also require coordinating & writing technical documents and business process flows
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Java services 
  • Prior experience working with developers and data analysts 
  • Experience with developing SELC documents
  • Proficiency with Jira/Confluence
  • Skills and knowledge utilizing Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and the Atlassian suite of tools
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and able to thrive in a busy, deadline driven atmosphere
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work in a challenging and fast paced environment with a team, as well as individually
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and organizational skills
  • Commitment to learn, think creatively, and facilitate collaboration across teams

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in the design/development process of cloud native systems 
  • Familiarity with AI/ML is a plus
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification a plus
  • Familiar with SQL and NoSQL database types
  • Familiar with:
    • Application frameworks (JavaScript, jQuery, Spring Boot)
    • Data loading/ingestion (ETL is a plus)
    • Automation Testing (UI, Unit, Service Layer, Code Coverage)
    • AWS Cloud (Cloud Concepts)
  • Familiarity with service-oriented applications 
  • Familiarity with UI frameworks (JavaScript, Angular, jQuery, React, Spring Boot)

 

Customer Requirements 

  • Clearance – Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation
  • Citizenship – Must be a US Citizen
  • Location – Hybrid with on-site in Ashburn, VA 2 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area.
