Who we're looking for:

We are seeking a motivated Sr Data Gov. Lead, Auto & Ops to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Governance & Quality Operations, this role is responsible for advancing the maturity of Rogers' Enterprise Data Governance program by modernizing governance processes, operationalizing governance-by-design practices, and leveraging automation to improve efficiency, adoption, compliance, and data quality outcomes across the organization.

 

Working across business and technology teams, the successful candidate will translate governance requirements into scalable operating models, processes, controls, and automated solutions that reduce manual effort and enable sustainable program growth.


What you'll do:

 

Drive Governance Modernization, Automation & Continuous Improvement 

  • Assess and modernize governance processes, workflows, and operating practices to improve operational efficiency, scalability, governance maturity, and user experience. 
  • Establish governance metrics, reporting, and assessment capabilities to measure effectiveness, identify risks & improvement opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance governance processes, standards, controls, governance-by-design practices, and data quality capabilities, reducing manual effort and increasing governance effectiveness across the enterprise. 
  • Drive the adoption of Data Governance practices through stakeholder engagement, guidance, training, and advisory support, helping teams embed governance requirements into day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify governance-related risks, gaps, and remediation opportunities to improve governance maturity, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor emerging governance and regulatory industry trends, incorporating relevant practices and requirements into the organization's governance framework and operating model.

 

Implement and support the operationalization of our Data Governance framework 

  • Partner with the Senior Manager, Data Governance & Quality Operations and Technology teams to translate governance requirements from current into scalable operating models, automated processes, controls, governance capabilities and technical solutions that support privacy, compliance, security, risk management and data quality objectives and drive future-state improvements.
  • Operationalize data governance standards, processes and controls that improve compliance, consistency and adoption.
  • Document, and continuously improve Data Governance operating models, roles, responsibilities, and decision-making structures.
  • Embed governance-by-design or a “shift-left” standards and practices by supporting enterprise initiatives and operational requests from inception.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of data quality controls, monitoring capabilities, and governance practices that improve trust in enterprise data assets.

 

 

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Management, Data Management, Business, computer science or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Governance Operations, Data Quality, Metadata Management, or related fields.
  • Proven Experience implementing and operationalizing enterprise Data Governance programs, including governance processes, controls, operating models, and governance-by-design practices.
  • Experience in assessing current-state processes and designing scalable future-state workflows, operating models, and governance practices.
  • Strong understanding of metadata management, lineage, data quality, stewardship, data ownership, privacy, compliance, and risk management.
  • Experience in leveraging governance and data platforms technologies and automation to enable scalable governance processes, controls, and operating models.
  • Experience using SQL, BI, analytics, and automation tools to analyze governance performance, develop governance KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and executive reporting.Experience driving governance adoption through stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and change management initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels, with the ability to lead workshops and influence decisions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver measurable business outcomes.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (i.e, GDPR, PIPEDA) and industry standards (i.e, ISO 27001, NSIT).
  • Familiarity with AI ethics principles and frameworks (i.e, IEEE Ethically Aligned Design, ACM Code of Ethics).
  • Relevant certifications (i.e CDMP, DGSP, etc..) is an asset.
