REVEL is an AI robotics company developing physical intelligence for general-purpose humanoid robots. We capture the force, dexterity and intent of human work with our Neural Gambit wearable, and use it to train RAI, the intelligence that powers our robots. REVEL is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, with R&D and engineering facilities in Prague and Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. This role is on-site with our engineering team in the Czech Republic.
The role
As a Data Collection Intern, you will work directly with the biomedical engineering and robotics teams to collect high-quality human movement and wearable-sensor data. You will operate the data-collection workstation, prepare participants, run standardized experimental protocols, monitor signal quality, and ensure that every recording is correctly labelled and documented.
This is a hands-on laboratory role, rather than a software-development or conventional administrative internship..
Responsibilities
Run day-to-day human data-collection sessions using the Neural Gambit wearable and associated hardware.
Prepare the workstation, wearable equipment and participant before each recording.
Correctly position and fit wearable sensors/electrodes according to established protocols.
Follow experimental protocols precisely and consistently across participants and sessions.
Monitor recordings in real time and identify problems such as poor sensor contact, motion artefacts, signal dropout or incorrect protocol execution.
Perform basic troubleshooting of the recording hardware and escalate issues when required.
Ensure recordings are correctly labelled, timestamped, annotated and associated with the correct experimental condition.
Perform basic quality-control checks before data is accepted into the dataset.
Maintain accurate session logs and report deviations from protocol.
Help test and improve data-collection protocols in collaboration with the sEMG/biomedical engineering and robotics teams.
Support experiments investigating human movement, force production, motor control and neuromuscular signals.
Help maintain an organized, safe and reliable laboratory/data-collection environment
Requirements
Currently pursuing a BSc/MSc in a relevant field such as:
biomedical engineering
neuroscience
biomechanics
robotics
electrical engineering
computer science
experimental psychology / human movement science
or a related technical discipline.
Comfortable working directly with people, physical hardware and experimental equipment.
Strong ability to follow detailed experimental protocols without skipping steps.
High attention to detail, particularly when working with data labels and experimental metadata.
Comfortable working in a hands-on environment where equipment occasionally needs troubleshooting.
Basic technical/computational literacy; ability to work with spreadsheets and structured datasets.
Good written and verbal communication in English.
Willingness to work on-site and spend a significant portion of the day running experimental sessions
Bonus qualifications
Previous experience in a research laboratory, biomechanics lab, neuroscience lab, medical/biomedical environment, robotics lab or other experimental setting.
Experience working with human participants.
Familiarity with EMG, physiological signals, motion capture, force sensors or other wearable sensors.
Basic Python experience.
Experience with data annotation, labelling or quality control.
Experience following or helping execute scientific/experimental protocols.
Interest in human motor control, neuromuscular interfaces, wearable sensing or robotics.
