About this role

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, Digital Product within Wealth Management Canada's Strategy, Products, & Digital Investing team owns the digital product vision, roadmap, and delivery execution for Royal Trust. Reporting to the Head of Digital Wealth Solutions, you will lead digital strategy across product teams, technology partners, vendors, and business stakeholders.

You will serve as the trusted technology bridge between Royal Trust business leaders and our technology partners, ensuring strategic decisions are grounded in sound technical judgment and that vendors deliver real value. You'll also actively own and deliver products, leading 0-to-1 product launches and managing the full product lifecycle from conception through market launch and iteration.

You directly manage a small team of product owners and bring strong technical expertise, demonstrated people leadership, and product management fluency.

This is an exciting time to join the team. Royal Trust is undergoing significant digital transformation, and you'll play a central role in shaping its future.

What will you do?

  • Own end-to-end product delivery for strategic initiatives; lead 0-to-1 product launches and manage full product lifecycle from conception through market launch and iteration

  • Own the digital product vision and long-term roadmap for Royal Trust; identify and prioritize digital opportunities, including AI-powered solutions that enhance operational efficiency and client outcomes

  • Serve as the primary technical authority in vendor and technology partner negotiations; challenge proposals with informed rigor, including evaluating AI capabilities, limitations, and integration approaches

  • Build trusted relationships with Royal Trust business leaders and translate their needs into digital strategy

  • Directly manage and develop a small team of product owners; drive execution with accountability for on-time, on-budget delivery

  • Lead build vs. buy analysis and technology evaluations; communicate technical complexity to business leadership

  • Partner with internal technology and AI teams to evaluate feasibility, integration, and implementation approaches

What You Need?

Must-have

  • 7+ years in product management, digital strategy, technology delivery, or systems architecture

  • Deep technical background (software development, systems architecture, enterprise technology); you need to understand how systems work

  • 3+ years of people leadership, ideally managing a small team

  • Proven ability to lead 0-to-1 product launches and deliver products end-to-end

  • Proven ability to challenge and negotiate with technology vendors from a position of technical credibility

  • Strong product lifecycle, roadmap development, and stakeholder management expertise

  • Excellent communication skills translating technical and strategic complexity for business leaders

  • Ability to develop and execute long-term product vision; comfort with ambiguity and ability to build products from conception to market success

Nice-to-have:

  • Financial services, wealth management, or trust services experience

  • Vendor management background

  • Experience evaluating, integrating, or launching AI-powered features or products; familiarity with generative AI, machine learning, or intelligent automation in a product context

  • Understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and applications in financial services and product development

Why This Role Matters

You'll launch breakthrough products that drive Royal Trust's digital transformation, including AI-powered solutions that reshape how we deliver impact to clients and advisors. You'll position the business for sustained growth through strategically aligned digital capabilities. You'll establish yourself as a trusted advisor who engages with sophisticated technology partners, ensuring the business gets the best solutions and value from its technology investments. This is a high-impact opportunity to build a reputation for delivering transformational results.
