About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships and ensuring a cost-effective, reliable, and continuous flow of materials to support both short-term operational needs and long-term business objectives.
Working closely with internal stakeholders across Production, Engineering, Quality, Sales, and Customer Service, you will play a key role in maintaining supply continuity, driving cost savings, and supporting new product introductions.
About the Supply Chain Team
Our Supply Chain team ensures that materials and services are available where and when they are needed while balancing inventory levels, quality requirements, and cost efficiency.
The team is responsible for:
- Supplier performance management, including delivery, quality, spend, quotations, and logistics.
- Supply chain risk management, lead-time optimisation, obsolescence management, and demand planning.
- New Product Introduction (NPI), including supplier selection, component sourcing, and product phase-in/phase-out activities.
- Inventory and cost management, including total cost of ownership, inventory optimisation, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise and manage purchase orders within the ERP system.
- Expedite supplier deliveries to ensure material availability.
- Maintain and improve material flow while achieving quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Manage and maintain accurate ERP master data, including lead times, safety stock levels, and Kanban settings.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Drive Purchase Price Variance (PPV) improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
- Identify, qualify, and consolidate suppliers to strengthen the supply base.
- Support cross-functional continuous improvement and Kaizen activities.
- Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) projects and supplier onboarding activities.
- Monitor and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong supplier management and procurement experience.
- Knowledge of electronics sourcing and component procurement.
- Understanding of manufacturing quality principles.
- Experience with low-cost-country sourcing.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, JD Edwards (JDE), or similar.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and problem-solving methodologies.
