Occupational Safety Analyst

Overview

The Occupational Safety Analyst is a key member of the EHS team supporting a research and development site. The role ensures site projects and operational activities are planned and executed in line with applicable legal requirements, organizational standards, and site EHS management systems.

 

This position provides EHS oversight, supports risk assessment and control implementation, reviews documentation and permit requirements, and contributes EHS input to operational and change management activities across the site. The role helps maintain a safe and compliant working environment by promoting incident prevention, effective controls, and continuous alignment with site EHS requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

• Provide EHS leadership and governance across construction activities and site operations, ensuring robust risk management, permit control, and safe systems of work for contractors.
• Lead compliance assurance against legal, corporate, and site EHS management system requirements across project delivery and routine site activities, driving timely mitigation of identified gaps.
• Shape and embed EHS plans and control frameworks that support safe execution of site operations.
• Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, and effective engagement with contractors, project teams, and site stakeholders.
• Lead EHS assurance activity through audits, inspections, and performance verification of construction works, contractor management, and site conditions.
• Monitor and communicate EHS performance, risks, and trends to support informed decision-making, escalation, and continuous improvement.
• Lead or facilitate investigations of significant incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are effectively implemented.
• Strengthen organizational capability by directing EHS training, inductions, and awareness initiatives that support contractor, project, and site readiness.
• Provide EHS input to project transition, commissioning, and operational change to ensure safe integration with ongoing site requirements and business continuity.

 

 

Qualifications

 

• Third-level qualification in Health and Safety, Process Safety, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience working successfully in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Strong understanding of EHS compliance, risk assessment, incident investigation, and contractor management.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Comfortable working in a confidential, professional environment and managing sensitive issues appropriately.
