With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, as Concrete Journeyman, you may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople, including laborers and carpenters.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Setting up the forms for edge of slab, sidewalks or walls.
- Building forms
- Pouring concrete raking to proper grade.
- Grading and prepping subgrade
- Spreading and smoothing concrete.
- Tooling expansion joints and edges.
- Using stains or colors to add the finishing touch.
- Adding small stones or other materials for decoration.
- Applying waterproofing and sealant to protect the concrete work.
- Install wire welded fabric or re-enforcing bar
- Ability to operate a skid loader
- Understand use of a laser level
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred
- Proficient in the use of industry tools and equipment
- Up to date with the latest technology involving concrete work
- Detail-oriented, well-organized, with an ability to multi-task
- Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts
- OSHA 10, preferred
- Operator's certificate, preferred
- Able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods
- Ability to adhere to job specifications and make top-class finishes in concrete work
