DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: The Application Administration and Development team serves the OSU Foundation, donors, and university partners by providing effective and efficient software applications, integrations, automation, and business processes that support strategic fundraising and advancement operations.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Application Administration and Development Student Worker assist with the administration, support, testing, documentation, and enhancement of software applications utilized throughout the OSU Foundation. This position provides operational support to the Application Administration and Development team through documentation maintenance, quality assurance testing, data validation, business process analysis, user support, and project-related activities. The role offers practical experience with enterprise systems, software development processes, data management, and application administration while supporting the Foundation's fundraising and advancement mission.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS
Application Support and Administration – 50%
- Assist with the administration and maintenance of enterprise applications.
- Perform routine system reviews, configuration validation, and operational support activities.
- Research, document, and assist with troubleshooting application issues.
- Help maintain application inventories, process documentation, and support resources.
- Assist with monitoring system functionality and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Information Services Helpdesk Support - 30%
- Assist users by monitoring the ticket queue and ticket assignments.
- Address work requests submitted through tickets.
Documentation - 20%
- Create and maintain user guides, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Assist in organizing and updating training materials.
- Document business processes and application workflows.
Other duties as assigned.
JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:
Education & Certifications
- High School graduate
- Currently enrolled in college with an Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering emphasis, or equivalent bachelor’s degree program.
Experience
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming languages (Java, C/C++, and/or C#), web-programming languages (JavaScript, HTML, and CSS), and/or database programming languages (SQL preferred).
- Coursework related to software development, systems analysis, business processes, and/or data management.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Aptitude for critical thinking, analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Attention to detail.
- Cooperative attitude with a desire to learn.
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Proven sense of humor and ability to have fun.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to people on campus and across the country. Must be able to lift and move devices weighing up to 30lbs and be prepared to work under desks to install computers. Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types. Must be able to navigate within the OSU Foundation. Typical office working conditions.
