About this role
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable activities, including invoice processing and timely payments to suppliers.
- Strictly adhere to due dates for principal supplier payments, ensuring amounts are credited on time.
- Handle petty cash, obtain proper approvals for disbursements, and report expenses to management monthly.
- Record purchase journals and match them with goods receipts and purchase orders.
- Conduct vendor evaluations as required.
- Assist with annual stock counts for external audits and adjust for any discrepancies with management approval.
- Track and renew insurance policies, including stock, money, marine, medical, and workers' compensation.
- Ensure all additional landed costs and material overhead are recorded as inventoriable costs.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders to clear incoming shipments and ensure demurrage charges are avoided.
- Receive purchase requisitions, raise purchase orders, and manage stationery and office supply orders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a similar industry.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to resolve accounting issues.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
- A proactive and analytical mindset to identify and address potential financial risks.
