About this role
As our HSE Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting Health, Safety and Environment across our Stavanger operations. Working closely with managers, supervisors, and employees, you'll help ensure regulatory compliance while driving practical HSE improvements that support our business and our people.
This is a hands-on operational role where you'll spend time engaging with the business, building relationships, conducting site activities, supporting audits and investigations, and promoting a proactive safety culture. Success comes from working collaboratively with operations, understanding their challenges, and finding practical solutions that strengthen safety performance.
You don't need to know everything on day one. We offer support from an experienced regional HSE team who will help you develop your knowledge of NOV's management systems, processes, and global standards while providing opportunities for continued professional growth.

Responsibilities
- Manage and continuously improve the local HSE management system.
- Ensure compliance with Norwegian legislation, NOV standards, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Conduct HSE inspections, audits, workplace observations, and risk assessments across site operations.
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
- Partner with operations to identify practical improvements and promote a proactive safety culture.
- Deliver HSE inductions, training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives.
- Monitor HSE performance, maintain compliance documentation, and report key performance indicators.
- Support environmental initiatives, including waste management and ESG reporting.
- Assist with customer tenders by preparing HSE documentation and compliance information.
- Act as a trusted HSE advisor for managers, employees, contractors, customers, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- 2–3 years or more of HSE experience in an operational environment.
- Good understanding of Norwegian HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, and HSE management systems.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in both Norwegian and English, written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within the energy and/or oil & gas industry.
Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations.
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
Internal Auditor certification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001).
Experience with Industrivern.
Experience supporting customer, regulatory, or certification audits.
Familiarity with environmental reporting and sustainability initiatives.
