About this role
To perform a wide range of technical services which includes Installation of top drive unit and associated equipment at customer's domestic and international locations and instructs and monitors customer's rig crew in proper set up, operation and removal of same to ensure safe and efficient use of equipment in onshore and offshore drilling.
Responsibilities
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
Loads equipment from transport containers at customer location and prepares same to rig up the top drive unit in the derrick.
Climbs derrick to install the Torque Track system, ensuring appropriate torque is applied to all nuts and bolts.
Uses hoisting system to pick up Top Drive system and installs the control panel and mud hoses (some hoses have hammer unions which must be tightened in place with a 10–15-pound hammer).
Installs driller's control panel and runs cables to power unit and top drive unit; hooks up fuel and air lines and power cables from drilling rig to power unit.
Performs pre-established tests to ensure proper function of the top drive unit and makes any necessary adjustments.
Instructs and monitors drillers and drilling crews in the safe operation of the top drive equipment.
Performs routine maintenance on the power and top drive units, changing oils and filters, tightening bolts, changing parts, and repairing whatever is necessary to maintain unit's proper function.
Upon completion of the well, reverses above procedures and rigs down hoses and control cables, top drive unit, torque track and driller's panel.
Cleans all equipment and loads into storage container for transportation to next site.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications / SKILLS
Preference will be given to those with Tesco/Canrig related equipment experience.
Electrical / Mechanical oilfield background required
Technical training in the electrical hydraulic field would be an asset
High School diploma
EIT/MIT Technical Certification preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to read, comprehend and write in English.
Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers and vendors.
Preferably 3 years "drilling rig experience", 2 years as a Driller would be considered an asset.
This position requires a team player that is comfortable operating in remote locations
Experience will include experience operating and repairing electrical and/or hydraulic equipment
