What you'll do: You'll provide essential patient care in the facility. The CNA will assist licensed nursing staff in delivering high-quality healthcare services, ensuring compliance with medical and security protocols. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a secure and structured environment.

 

Essential Functions:
  1. Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and other personal-care needs.
  2. Assist patients with transfers, ambulation, positioning, range-of-motion activities, and mobility devices using approved safety procedures.
  3. Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures and assist licensed nursing staff as directed.
  4. Measure, record, and promptly report assigned patient information, including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, weight, intake and output, and other routine observations.
  5. Observe patients for changes in physical condition, behavior, mental status, skin integrity, or signs of pain or distress and promptly report concerns to licensed medical staff.
  6. Perform routine patient-care assignments under the direction of licensed nursing staff and within the CNA's documented training, demonstrated competency, and authorized scope of duties. The CNA does not assist with medications.
  7. Collect, label, and transport non-invasive specimens, such as urine or stool specimens, when trained and assigned and in accordance with facility procedures.
  8. Assist with skin-care activities and wound-care preparation as directed. Perform wound-related tasks only when specifically authorized, trained, competency-validated, and permitted by facility policy and applicable assignment or delegation requirements. The CNA does not independently assess wounds or determine treatment.
  9. Accurately and timely document care provided, patient observations, and other required information in the designated medical record or reporting system.
  10. Maintain patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and rights during all interactions and care activities.
  11. Coordinate appropriately with healthcare and security personnel to support the safety of patients, employees, and visitors while following established clinical and facility-security procedures.
  12. Respond appropriately to emergencies by obtaining assistance, initiating actions within current training such as CPR or basic life support, and following facility emergency procedures.
  13. Initiate telehealth calls for emergencies' afterhours.

Education and experience requirements:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent or GED. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Texas. Minimum of one year of experience working as a CNA in a healthcare setting. CPR/BLS certification required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
