N280 Division Summary: The Strategic Non-Kinetic Effects (SNKE) Mission Division at MITRE develops cutting-edge capabilities to gain and maintain strategic advantage. We are a cross-functional team of subject-matter-experts, engineers, modelers, planners, analysts, and innovators working to deliver strategic economic and non-kinetic solutions to the nation’s most pressing security challenges. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of strategic economics and non-kinetic effects within the national security landscape and work on high-impact projects with significant real-world implications. You will be part of a dynamic team of experts dedicated to advancing this critical field.
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute research and analysis to R&D projects in the strategic, non-kinetic effect portfolio.
- Develop novel workflows, prototypes, or methodologies to enable strategic, non-kinetic missions.
- Conduct exploratory data scouting and analysis, identifying and testing potential ways to leverage new sources and communicating findings to supervisors.
- Support capability development efforts through research, analysis, experimentation, and SME input.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled (with at least two years completed) in a degree-granting program at an accredited university.
- Experience or strong interest in strategic economics, non-kinetic effects, irregular warfare, and strategic competition.
- Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship.
- Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
- Working knowledge of strategic economics, irregular warfare, non-kinetic, or strategic competition missions and critical issues.
- Ability to quickly and effectively leverage commercial data and tools for rapid experimentation.
- Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned
