About this role
The Emerging Technologies Innovation Center seeks a Distringuished Chief Engineer for Emerging Technologies. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing Division and Corporate strategies for placed-based innovation, domestic and international science and technology partnerships, and direct-to-labs research and development opportunities. They will collaborate across MITRE to develop joint efforts with the other Sectors and Innovation Centers to identify and win competitive R&D grants and opportunities and help mentor and develop technical staff and capabilities. This role requires a high level of expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving innovation and economic growth. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the development and implementation of innovative strategies and initiatives.
- Drive place-based innovation to address regional, national, societal, and geostrategic challenges. Especially, oversee a comprehensive set of activities spanning use-inspired research, translation of innovation to practice, entrepreneurship, workforce development, community engagement, and ecosystem building, to nurture and accelerate the growth of regional innovation ecosystems grounded in technological innovation and regional, national, societal, and/or geostrategic challenges
- Strengthen national competitiveness and security through innovative strategies
- Establish and manage domestic and international science and technology partnerships.
- Monitor and analyze the latest trends in emerging technologies to identify new opportunities
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of innovation strategies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 10 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. Minimum of 15 years of experience in a senior leadership role in engineering or innovation.
- Proven track record of driving place-based innovation and economic growth.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team in a collaborative environment
- Excellent strategic planning and execution skills.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or related field.
- Must have an active Top Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD degree in Engineering, Technology, Business, or related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying emerging technologies to solve complex problems
- Proven experience in establishing and managing domestic and international partnerships.
