Application Observability Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Observability Engineer to operate our observability stack supporting critical telecom network monitoring and provisioning systems. This role is ideal for a professional who excels at troubleshooting complex issues and maintaining system reliability using full stack observability tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and optimize the enterprise observability platform including Grafana, Grafana Tempo, Dynatrace, Splunk, and syslog
  • Monitor system health and performance metrics to proactively identify and resolve potential issues
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to application performance, reliability, and functionality
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for observability and performance issues
  • Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reports to support operational visibility
  • Collaborate with network engineering and automation teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of monitoring systems
  • Lead root cause analysis for critical incidents and contribute to post-mortem processes
  • Mentor junior engineers on observability tooling and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to support knowledge sharing and operational efficiency
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response as needed
  • Other job-related duties as requested

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in observability, operations, or related infrastructure roles
  • Hands-on experience with Grafana, Grafana Tempo, Dynatrace, Splunk, and syslog
  • Strong proficiency with Linux systems and command-line tools
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, etc.)
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or similar)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting
  • Willingness to work as a team and independently.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in telecom or large-scale distributed systems environments
  • Familiarity with distributed tracing and APM concepts
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
