About this role

We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to join Medra's team and build the robotic systems that will revolutionize life science research. You'll develop software that enables robots to operate scientific instruments with human-level dexterity — manipulating biology tools, avoiding collisions in dynamic lab environments, and closing the loop with computer vision. Medra is a Series D+ funded startup of ~34 engineers from Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink, and Amazon, building a Physical AI platform to accelerate drug discovery and ultimately eradicate disease. This is a high-ownership role where you'll shape major parts of the robotics stack at a fast-moving company with an ambitious mission.

What will you be doing?

Develop and implement motion planning and trajectory optimization algorithms for robot arm manipulators operating in complex, dynamic lab environments

Integrate, test, and debug software solutions across simulation and physical robots — shipping code that runs on real hardware

Use computer vision to enable robots to work with consumables and equipment originally designed for humans

Collaborate directly with partner scientists at customer labs to understand pain points, ideate creative solutions, and guide implementation and deployment

Identify opportunities for simplification and design for scalability and robustness across the robotics platform
