About the role.
As a Poly Operator on the Production Night Shift team, you will play a critical role in safely operating packaging equipment while ensuring product quality, equipment reliability, and adherence to safety standards. This position supports McCain’s Competitive Edge and Lean Manufacturing principles by driving excellence in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (SQCD). You will take ownership of basic equipment care, identify abnormalities, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help deliver high-quality products to our customers.
What you’ll be doing.
  • Safely operate packaging equipment including poly baggers, case tapers, automatic packers, metal detectors, x-ray systems, scales, case erectors, vibrators, conveyors, and shakers within established operating parameters.
  • Monitor equipment performance and recognize, troubleshoot, and respond appropriately to abnormal operating conditions.
  • Perform routine operator care inspections using sight, sound, touch, smell, gauges, and other approved methods.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness through daily sanitation and scheduled downtime cleaning activities.
  • Inspect lubrication systems, fasteners, belts, chains, sprockets, couplings, guards, and other drive components, completing authorized operator-care tasks.
  • Detect and communicate equipment abnormalities including leaks, vibration, excessive heat, wear, misalignment, and unusual noise; initiate work requests and corrective actions when required.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks and accurately complete all required documentation and packaging records.
  • Verify proper package sealing, coding accuracy, labeling compliance, and adherence to no mixed-label standards.
  • Follow Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and all safety requirements before performing work on equipment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis, defect elimination, centerlining activities, and continuous improvement initiatives that support Lean Manufacturing and SQCD performance.
What you’ll need to be successful.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to develop technical competency in equipment operation and operator-care activities.
  • Ability to perform basic equipment inspections, identify abnormal conditions, and complete operator-care tasks as trained and authorized.
  • Successful completion of the McCain Operator Training Program and all required capability modules, including Fasteners, Lubrication, Drive Systems, and Basic Mechanical Inspection.
  • Ability to learn and operate touchscreen systems used for equipment operation and quality documentation.
  • Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, charts, and graphs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Basic math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work a night shift schedule, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for extended periods and lifting materials as required.
About the team.
The Production Night Shift team is responsible for safely producing and packaging high-quality products while maintaining operational excellence across the manufacturing facility. As a Poly Operator, you will work closely with fellow production team members, maintenance personnel, quality teams, and supervisors to achieve production targets, maintain equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement efforts. This role is an integral part of ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations during night shift production.

Compensation Package: - Starting at 23.65 USD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
