About the role.
McCain Foods Canada is seeking a General Operator to join the team at the Grand Falls Plant on a 6-month temporary contract. This role is essential in supporting safe and efficient plant operations while maintaining product quality and compliance standards. The General Operator will contribute to equipment operation, material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced production environment. This role follows a rotating shift schedule of 4 days on (2 day shifts and 2 night shifts) followed by 4 days off.
What you’ll be doing.
  • Ensure the safety of yourself and your co-workers at all times
  • Perform material handling tasks, including lifting and moving 19 kg boxes and bags
  • Follow changeover procedures and meet production requirements
  • Support sanitation and housekeeping duties as required
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Critical Control Points (CCPs)
  • Contribute to SQCDPE targets and support KPI achievement
  • Follow Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and participate in STEP safety programs
  • Identify and help resolve production issues in a fast-paced team environment
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and required e-learning courses
What you’ll need to be successful.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Basic computer skills are considered an asset
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to accurately complete production documentation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, continuously changing environment
  • Willingness to learn and operate lift trucks (experience is an asset)
  • Proven commitment to safety with a strong safety record

You will be part of the Grand Falls Plant production team, working closely with supervisors and fellow operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. The team environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on continuous improvement and shared success.

Compensation Package: Starting at $25.13 CAD hourly + bonus eligibility + hourly pay differential for applicable shifts
