St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School is a very friendly, one form entry school situated next door to our parish church of The Annunciation and St. Augustine on Beckenham Hill.  The school is a happy place where children are nurtured and loved within a caring and exciting Catholic environment. 

We are seeking a passionate and committed Special Education Needs & Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO) to join our warm, supportive team and make a real difference to our pupils’ learning. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage SEND provision across the school.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and statutory guidance.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to develop and implement SEND strategy.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision across the school.
  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality inclusive classroom practice.
  • Coordinate and review targeted interventions to support pupil progress.
  • Deliver small-group interventions to support pupils with additional needs.
  • Provide occasional cover teaching where required.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and oversee identification and assessment processes.

Key Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or NPQSEN with commitment to continued professional development 
  • Experience of coordinating SEND provision, ideally in a primary setting.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
