Description
The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a skilled nursing facility that cares for the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Veterans. Our mission is to Serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.

The Charge Nurse (RN) position is responsible for caring for the residents of Thomson-Hood Veterans Center.

The hours for the position are 7pm-7am.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervises professional ancillary employees in the administration of efficient nursing care of residents and makes recommendations to the Nursing Administrator and Nurse Shift Supervisor.
  • Assesses, plans and interventions, and evaluates care of residents. Participates in care planning process.
  • Participates in all aspects of direct care including responding to emergency situations.
  • Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules.
  • Participates in staff education and serves as a preceptor in New Employee Orientation.
  • Reassigns staff according to resident acuity.
  • Performs other duties as required.

This position has an approved Locality Premium of $15.53, based on the organizational structure and work county it is currently assigned to, in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

Working Conditions
Incumbents work with patients, clients, or employees who may have been exposed to infectious diseases which may require the following of safety procedures.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
