About this role

Job Summary

The Stand-up forklift operator is responsible for safely operating forklift while performing warehouse and material handling duties.

Job Responsibilities   

  • Forklift Operation: Drive the stand-up forklift and control the movement of lifting apparatus by moving levers and pressing pedals
  • Material Handling: Position lifting forks under loaded pallets or skids, transport loads to designated areas, and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device
  • Organization: Maintain material in an efficient and orderly manner by size and grade for easy retrieval
  • Inventory Management: Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed
  • Inspection and Reporting: Inspect materials for damage or shortages and report findings to the supervisor
  • Loading/Unloading: Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting devices
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including lubricating the truck, recharging batteries, filling the fuel tank, or replacing the liquefied gas tank
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support warehouse operations

Qualifications 

  • Certification: Valid active stand-up forklift certification.
  • Communication: Ability to speak effectively with customers and employees, and to read and understand safety rules, operation, maintenance, and procedure manuals.
  • Mathematics: Proficiency in basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Instruction Compliance: Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Education and Experience:
    • 1-year certificate from a college or technical school; or
    • Three to six months of related experience; or
    • Two-year technical degree or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in a related field
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and understand work orders and written instructions, utilize measuring devices such as rulers, tapes, and calipers, and use a computer to check stock and print tags
  • Product Knowledge: Knowledge of products handled in the warehouse
  • Banding Equipment: Ability to use banding equipment
  • Physical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility
  • Reliability: Demonstrated reliable work history
  • Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
