About this role

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft Teams Voice Engineer to help design, implement, and support our enterprise voice environment as we continue our strategic migration from Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) to Microsoft Teams Phone (Teams Voice).

This role will serve as a key technical resource for Microsoft Teams Voice, with a strong focus on Teams Phone architecture, Direct Routing, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), SIP, call routing, and enterprise voice services. The engineer will also work with our existing Cisco voice environment during the transition; however, deep Cisco CUCM expertise is not required.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on Microsoft Teams Voice experience, solid enterprise telephony and networking fundamentals, and experience implementing or supporting complex voice environments. Experience with Cisco CUCM and Cisco-to-Teams migrations is highly valued but considered a plus.

  • Support enterprise calling features, including Auto Attendants, Call Queues, emergency calling/E911, and related Teams voice services
  • Troubleshoot complex call-routing, signaling, connectivity, and call-quality issues
  • Use Microsoft Teams administration and diagnostic tools, including Teams Admin Center, PowerShell, and call-quality reporting tools
  • Assist in developing Teams Voice architecture, technical standards, migration strategies, and implementation plans

Voice Migration & Cisco Integration

  • Support the migration of users, locations, phone numbers, and voice services from Cisco CUCM to Microsoft Teams Voice
  • Work with internal teams, vendors, and other technical resources supporting Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, CCX, gateways, and related Cisco voice infrastructure
  • Support SIP and voice integrations between Microsoft Teams, Cisco, SBCs, carriers, and other enterprise systems
  • Help identify and resolve interoperability issues during the transition from Cisco to Microsoft Teams
  • Contribute to migration planning, testing, cutovers, validation, and post-migration support
  • Help ensure operational stability of existing voice services throughout the migration

Network & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Assess and maintain enterprise network readiness for Microsoft Teams Voice
  • Work with network teams to ensure appropriate QoS, bandwidth, latency, and resiliency for real-time voice traffic
  • Troubleshoot voice-related network issues involving VLANs, QoS, routing, switching, firewalls, and WAN connectivity
  • Analyze voice quality issues involving latency, jitter, packet loss, RTP, SIP signaling, and network performance
  • Collaborate with network, security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure reliable and secure voice services

Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for Microsoft Teams Voice and enterprise telephony issues
  • Work closely with Microsoft, Cisco, telecommunications carriers, vendors, and other service providers
  • Establish and maintain operational standards, monitoring, documentation, and support procedures
  • Develop technical documentation for architecture, configurations, call flows, dial plans, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, supportability, and the end-user calling experience
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other team members
