Description

We are looking for an experienced Employment Law Counsel to join our legal team. The ideal candidate combines solid knowledge of employment law in Kazakhstan and the MENA region (EU experience is a further plus) with exposure to international labour regulations. You will advise on a broad range of employment matters, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and support our HR and management teams in making well-informed decisions.


Job Responsibilities

  • Advise on employment law issues: hiring practices, employment contracts, terminations, benefits, workplace policies, and employee relations.
  • Ensure company compliance with local, regional, and international employment laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, consultancy contracts, and related legal documents.
  • Manage employment disputes and litigation, coordinating with external counsel where needed.
  • Develop and update internal policies and procedures in line with current legal requirements and best practices.
  • Deliver training and practical guidance to HR and management teams on employment law and compliance.
  • Track changes in employment legislation and advise on their potential impact on the business.
  • Handle cross-border employment matters, including expatriate arrangements and global mobility programmes.
  • Advise on worker classification (employee vs. independent contractor), particularly in a gig-economy context.
  • Work closely with HR, compliance, and operations teams to support business objectives.



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or an equivalent law degree from a reputable institution.
  • At least 5 years of experience specialising in employment law — ideally, though not necessarily, in the IT or transportation sector.
  • Strong understanding of employment law in Kazakhstan and the MENA region (preferred, not mandatory); European Union experience and international employment work are a plus.
  • Fluent in Russian language and excellent English speaking skills;
